ADMISSIONS
Admissions for the 2024-2025 school year are closed, and we are no longer accepting applications. Please check our Events page for Open House dates for 2025-26 admissions.
HOURS AND DATES
Sunset Cooperative Nursery School is structured on half-day sessions, five days a week.
Our morning session runs from 9 am-12 pm, and our afternoon session runs from 1 pm-4 pm.
An extended care (8am - 9am & 4pm - 5pm) and lunch program (12pm - 1pm) are available on a limited basis.
The fall semester runs roughly August to December and the spring semester runs roughly January to June. Summer school is available on a limited basis.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Sunset Cooperative Nursery School is open to all children between the ages of two and five, and they need not be toilet trained. To begin the application process, your child must be eligible for enrollment in the following school year. Here are the steps:
Attend an Open House. We host two Open Houses in the Fall and the Winter. Please check out the dates and sign up on our Events page. We post info about our Open Houses each August. Our Open Houses are opportunities for you to learn more about our play-based school, and last approximately an hour and a half. Once you have attended an Open House, you will have the chance to sign up for a tour.
The Open House dates are:
Take a tour: On the tour, you will experience a day in the life of a Sunset student and have an opportunity to get to meet all of the teachers and ask all the questions you can think of. Your child(ren) are welcome and encouraged to come.
Application Form & Non-Refundable Fee: If you would like to continue the application process after touring the school, return a completed application form along with a $30 non-refundable processing fee by the deadline given. Please note, the fee does not guarantee acceptance.
Financial Aid: We have a robust financial aid fund and encourage you to apply for aid if financial support would help you to attend Sunset. Financial aid applications are available with your school application.
Application Acceptance: Once all meetings have been completed, we will contact applicants who we might have spaces for to discuss membership. We generally notify families in early spring.
Keep in Touch: Even if you don't receive a spot right away, let us know you are still interested as the year goes by, check-in with one of our membership chairpersons. Write a letter explaining your reasons for wanting to join a cooperative. We love to hear from you.
Megan's Law: All family names through the California Department of Justice Megan's Law database.
Immunizations: Please read our immunization requirements.
Thank you so much for your interest in Sunset Cooperative Nursery School. Contact our Admissions team if you have other questions.
